PHOTO PRINTS

It seems like every house is trying to find their way of using, and interpreting photo prints, this Just Cavali look for Resort 2013 is a simple silhouette, but the amazing photo print elevates the look to a new level. Simple in black and white, its progressive but not offensive. The idea of hard architecture printed on fabric like the Paradox print shown, has a hard edge that’s not hard to wear.

                                                      Red, White, and NEW

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Grab all the americana garb you can and wear it out!

Katy Perry got the memo <3

                                            You look great!….Take a BOW!

The popularity of novelty conversational prints is made even more whimsical and fun when put on a beautiful evening gown. Lauren Santo Domingo does this all over bow print justice, so fun, so forward, so chic. Bold prints make for a great bold statement and at the Met Gala after party its always important to stand out.

Black and Gold! Again! Award winning British shoe designer Tabitha Simmons hit the red carpet of the New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala in a runway look from Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2012 collection. Looking matador chic, she captured the dramatics of the ballet perfectly with this ensemble. Tabitha’s opulent coat is similar to Paradox’s embroidered gold and black dress from the 1930’s.

Marc Jacobs ruffled a few feathers at the Met Gala a few days ago. Who knew he wore boxers? Definitely thought of him as more of a briefs kind of guy. His black lace shirt, not suited for most, was refreshing to see. The black is in contrast to the delicate technique and fabric the lace is constructed of. His look is worthy of recreating, maybe in a more tame way (…or not.)

Claire, Prisca, Jenna, and Virginie Courtin-Clarins at the Met Gala 2012 in New York City….
love sisters, love the coordination (while remaining true to their personal style), love claire’s new hairs (i think i need to chop)

I’m going with 10% overstyled but hey it was the Met Ball…

Doesn’t the white dress worn by Claire Courtin-Clarins remind you of the dress Daphne Rubin Vega chose to wear at the Street Car Named Desire premiere? FIERCE!

                                                                   MODERN FLORALS

Every designer I have spoken to recently has said that they were looking for the most modern way to interpret florals, and this Erdem dress definitely addresses that request. The dress we have shown from the Paradox archive has such a modern feeling, the patchwork piecing, and the sexy placement makes it such a contemporary piece that it is hard to imagine that it’s at least a few decades old. It never ceases to amaze me that some styles definitely come back around, and if its great trends like this, I have no problem with fashion-refashioning itself.

AND THE WINNER IS………
1930s Fringe! Aside from fringe being such a hot trend this season, this dress also fit Daphne perfectly. All the other pieces were great too, and who knows, she may need a dress for the Tony’s this year.
